Why are the graphics cards burning?

Why "burn" the graphics cards?

It is the most common question of our customers and we will try to analyze as simple and understood as possible.

This problem affects all Laptop types, all desktop computers but even mobile phones and Tablet.

I'm sure you've heard somewhere that the problem is created by overheating. That's right, but why from overheating?

Besides, isn't that what brushes and huge fans are for?

When a laptop or desktop computer is purchased, you will not find in its operating manual that your device needs periodic maintenance on the cooling system.

needs

Why is it needed?

When running the laptop or desktop computer, the system to download the temperatures generated during the operation, it feeds the cooling system and the air absorbs the heat and expel it from the hot air exits of the cooling system.

This at least happens when the laptop or the desktop is new. But then over time because of the cold air introduced into the cooling system, it brings with it and dust from the surrounding space, this dust sticks to the wall of the spray, resulting in the passage of time to clog the outlet of the hot air and so the spray cannot expel the temperature so that it overheat even more.

What is the time to the problem?

The time to reach the computer where the dust creates a problem depends on the use of each machine and of course the space used.  For example, another time requires a computer with a function of 1-2 hours per day and another with 10 hours a day. From our experience of the thousands of Laptop that have passed through our workshop, we have seen that for a laptop using 1-2 hours a day it needs maintenance in cooling every 2 years. For longer daily use good is maintenance to be done annually.

So graphics cards are burned by heat;

Not exactly. To understand the problem, let's think about this. The chip of the graphics card to stick to its board requires 218 °. So imagine that in order to make the chip on the board, it needs a terrible temperature, which is not even remotely created by the system itself to "unstick" the chip and not to work.

The problem is the constant increases in temperature in heat and cold. Like all materials so the chips have the phenomenon of expansion and contraction. When this is very intense due to the high temperatures the result is usually the "cracking" of some of the chip's compounds on its board resulting in its non-functioning. This explains why on the laptop we may not have an image on his screen and we have an image on the outside screen or we have lines or when it is cold and we open it works and then when it heats up and more. All this has to do with the point of the compounds has the problem.

What is the response to the problem?

As we said the problem starts with the non-maintenance of refrigeration systems. The main thing is to have a proper maintenance of the cooling system not only from the dust but also by replacing the thermoconductive materials "pastes" the lubrication of the fan and others that will improve the performance of the system. If you see the maintenance costs here you will see that maintenance is much more advantageous than total damage.

I didn't get a chance to have it and is now in trouble, it is made reliable;

As long as we have reached this phase and our card has a problem we are looking at the chances of repair.

Because as we explained above, the problem is usually created in the joints and rarely internally in the graphics card itself, so the chances of repair are usually large.

You can see here to get a picture of the repairs.

Generally service stores use various methods to repair the graphics card. reflow, "baking in the oven", Reballing. The main purpose of repair is to re- the compounds which as discussed above usually have the problem.

The reflow method is not an appropriate method because even with special repair machines it simply warms the chip to such a degree that it expands too much, but not permanently catching the compounds. The result is due to expansion the compounds temporarily function but the chip after some more contractions and contractions will again present the original problem.

The method if we can talk about method "baking in the oven" does that and the reflow method simply with no control at all at temperature and other repair parameters. Clearly this is a completely unprofessional repair mode.

The reballing method is the most basic repair method with the highest probability of endurance in time. The odds are better because the agglutination target of the chip is achieved at its base. Of course this method is the most difficult and time-consuming and of course at a higher cost. The reballing, of course, as we said, repairs the chip's compounds with its base but in case the chip has an internal problem the only way to deal with it is the total replacement of the chip

Close, we must remember that the basic rule is prevent by periodic maintenance of your laptop or desktop computer.
